ملخص:
إن المدينة خلاصة تاريخ الحياة الحضرية ، فهي الكائن الحي كما عرفها كثير من علماء العمران ،فهي الناس المواصلات وهي التجارة والاقتصاد، والفن والعمارة، والصلات والعواطف، والحكومة والسياسة ،والثقافة والذوق، وهي أصدق تعبير لانعكاس ثقافة الشعوب وتطور الأمم ، وهي صورة لكفاح الإنسان وانتصاراته وهزائمه ، وهي صورة للقوة والفقر والحرمان والضعف.إن قيام المدن ونموها مسألة يصعب أن نتتبعها بدرجة ملحوظة لأسباب عديدة، ومما لاشك فيه أن المدن انبثقت تعبيرا عن ظروف روحية ومادية واجتماعية وسياسية، وانعكست هذه الصور على تغير المدن ونمو العمارة ، فهي إذن حتمية سوسيو-تاريخية نشأت من تقاطع الزمان و المكان.

Abstract:
The city is the conclusion of urban life.It is the « humanbeing » as the populousness scientists defined.It is : people and tranports.It is business and economics, art and construction,relations and emotions,goverment and politics,culture and taste.It is a valid expression of the reflection of the population culture and nations development .It is an image of man’s struggle, and his victories and defeats.It is also an image of power and poverty,need and weakness.The development and growth of cities is a problem which is difficult to follow in a clear way,for a number of reasons.With no doubth,the cities emerged as an expression of spiritual , material, social and political conditions.This image has been reflected on the cities changes and contruction development.So, it is an inevitability of socio-historical which has been emerged from the intersection of time and place.
